Enhancing Student Engagement for Sustainability: The UniBas Student Project Incubator

Project B2-5

Students are creative and innovative and come up with great project ideas that address issues of sustainable development and a sustainable university. The project provides students at the University of Basel with the opportunity and support for developing individual projects addressing topics in sustainable development. The overall goal is to contribute to a culture of sustainability at the University of Basel and in the Basel community and is aimed at both students interested in developing such projects and specialists and professionals in the Basel community interested in supporting student projects.
The project will be undertaken in three cycles over the course of the three years. At the beginning of each cycle, students can attend a kick-off event where they will be introduced to the topic of sustainable development and be given the space to develop initial project ideas. Proposed student project ideas will be reviewed by a group of experts in the field. By asking students for small, feasible projects that are to last one semester, multiple projects will be supported. Each selected student project will be provided with technical, financial, theoretical and methodological support by the coordination team and by specialists and professionals in the field.
