STUDIUM SUSTAINALE – a teaching concept merging studium generale with sustainable development

Project A1-21

The project "studium sustainale" developed, tested and evaluated a foundational course on sustainable development building on traditional context studies (studium generale). The 3 ECTS course was offered across master programs and departments and the composition of the course was highly interdisciplinary. Next to theoretical and conceptional aspects of sustainability application contexts in communication, finance, architecture, or marketing were thaught. The core of the course however was the simulation game NAPURO taught by Dr. Markus Ulrich (UCS). Here students engaged in running a company developing sustainable cleaning robots in a future market driven by sustainability. The course was offered three times and was ranked No. 1 in the master courses of the Faculty of Communication Science at Università della Svizzera italiana.
